It was as a teen, growing up in London, that I discovered this book in our school library. That image pulled me right in, and I had to know more!
The book is a coming-of-age story about a group of children growing up in a world where secrets are hidden from them.
At that time in my life, that book was hugely relevant and influential – but it was thanks to Chris Foss’s magnificent artwork that caught my interest.
They say you should never judge a book by its cover, but if it has a Foss cover, you already know it’s going to be good!
