Latest news from the publisher, Titan is that an initial shipment of the book is arriving from Hong Kong the first week of June. As soon as I know how long it will take to distribute to retail channels I will post here.

Release dates for the Standard Edition:

    UK
    22 July 2011

    USA
    6th September 2011

400 Special Edition (signed) books and 100 Limited Edition (signed with sketch in sealed envelope); release date and sales channels yet to be confirmed.

The 400 signed Special Edition books will probably be sold through Titans’s website and through their retail outlet Forbidden Planet. There maybe an auction for the 100 signed with unique sketch editions. As soon as I have more info from Titan I will post here.

Just got this book today from Amazon (U.S.). Bee-youtiful! Chris’s work is absolutely inspiring.

But I must ask… is there really no index in this book? Or am I losing my mind here?

      Hi Brian

I’m really pleased you like the book. Yes, you’ve lost your mind – there’s a lovely index in the back of the book, (I’m lying) I did ask Titan for an index, perhaps if we do a reprint the publisher will stretch to an index, it would make my life easier when discussing the artwork.

Thanks, Imogene. There was a particular cover I was looking for, but I guess there are worse things than having to (!!!) pore through every page of a book of Chris’s artwork…

      Hello Brian
Having to thumb through every page is not ideal and in retrospect I wish I’d pushed harder for an index. There may be an index of Chris’ work being published independently, which will list all or most of Chris’ work and give the page number in Hardware and a thumbnail image too. If Titan do a reprint, we may be able to include this in the next edition. My hope is to get all of Chris’ prodigious output dated and labelled, I had no idea he’d created so many works prior to Hardware.

*finally* a book that does justice to Chris’ work. It arrived yesterday at my home in The Netherlands and was pleasantly suprised by the quality of the prints.

The only thing missing is an autograph of the master himself but you can’t have everything :-)

(yes, i know about the auction but i was too late for this)

Hello Jean-Paul, I’m so glad you like the book, it’s a testimony to Ryan Hughes, the book designer/author’s determination to track down as many as possible of Chris’ artwork. And yes I agree finally a book of Chris’ work with excellent reproduction values. Forbidden Planet are selling signed copies of the standard edition of the book if any one else is interested, follow the links on this site.
